Search Sedgwick County Court Records

Certified copies, archived files, and records not shown in CaseSearch should be routed to the Clerk of the District Court.

The sample case-number tooltip uses a municipal format like 20TM000000. A public result screen from CaseSearch was not available in the captured official materials, so district court result fields should be verified from the live portal or the Records Department when exact display language matters.
Sedgwick County Court Records Access
Kansas public access has two layers in Sedgwick County. County-government records use the Sedgwick County KORA process, but District Court records belong to the Kansas Judicial Branch. Sedgwick County's KORA routing page says 18th Judicial District Court records should be requested from the court, not from county government. The local path is therefore CaseSearch, public terminals, or a written request to the DC18 Records Department.
Under K.S.A. 45-218, agencies must respond to inspection or copy requests, and Sedgwick County materials cite the three-business-day response framework. DC18 says it gives a payment estimate before fulfillment and requires prepayment. K.S.A. 45-221 allows certain records to be closed. Kansas Supreme Court Rule 24 also requires filers to protect confidential personal information in court papers.

Restricted Sedgwick County Court Records
DC18 lists many case types that public users cannot view in the Kansas portal. The restricted list includes adoptions, care and treatment, domestic DM cases, protection from abuse, protection from stalking, Juvenile CINC, Juvenile Offender, pre-file IIP, coroner materials, transfer-in matters, guardianship and conservatorship, grand jury, inquisitions, material witness, miscellaneous MR, arrest expungement, child death review subpoenas, waiver of parental consent, and transfer-in juvenile. Non-docketable events and documents marked Legacy or Confidential / Sealed Information are also outside ordinary public portal access.
Expunged and sealed files are not treated like open Sedgwick County court records. K.S.A. 21-6614 governs expungement for certain convictions, arrest records, and diversions. Juvenile and child-in-need-of-care files are limited by statutes such as K.S.A. 38-2209 and K.S.A. 38-2212. A party, lawyer, or person with a court order may have a different access route than a general public user, but the request still runs through the court.

Request Sedgwick County Court Records
The Records Department is the local office for public terminals, written requests, copies, and archived searches. DC18 requires one request form per case number. Requests may be submitted by email, mail, fax, or in person. Do not route district court records to the Sedgwick County Clerk. That county office handles commission minutes, tax levies, tax-roll work, land-transfer records for taxation, and county licenses, while court records are held by the Clerk of the District Court.
